Arnie Stang and Soupy Were great talents Ira…
I’m glad that was able to meet them.They were wonderful gentlemen.
(Crying)I’m going to miss them.
R.I.P. Arnold and Soupy.
Yo Baby Boomers, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish, but the Millennial Generation is one of the best generations of all time. One of the best generations of all time!
Truly amazing footage of Arnold, Rootie, and that Soupy sequence is brilliant and priceless. Thanks for salvaging!!
First Soupy, now Arnold. 2009 lost a lot of greats.
Answer: The original Pookie was a “Charlemane” character puppet and for legal-copyright reasons, Soupy had to change the Pookie Puppet to the one used from that point on.
Thanks,
Frank Cali
Arnold was a supporting player {“Francis, the stagehand”} on Milton Berle’s 1952-’55 variety show [bridging the end of "TEXACO STAR THEATER" and "THE BUICK-BERLE SHOW"]; this excerpt is from a December 1953 telecast. The Soupy Sales sequence (featuring Chester Morris and Joan Fontaine) is from his never-aired ABC special that was supposed to have been telecast in the fall of 1966 {“IN COLOR!”}, but was shelved for reasons that Soupy later described in his autobiography, “Soupy Sez”.
@Rollin558 happy holiday thanks
Great vid!
I hadn’t even heard that Stang died at the ripe old age of 91 years. He was such a unique and gifted talent. Can’t even imagine how many Chunky bars I had to buy after watching his commercials.
Great stuff. RIP, Arnold Stang. Thanks for the post.
Farewell, Arnold.
