What will happen when the Baby Boomers die?
What will happen when the Baby-Boomers die? Since the Baby-boomer make up a major demographic of the US population, what will happen to the economy? Will prices for everything skyrocket, or lower because demand is less with less people? I know social security will be spent fully, but will happen when all this is over? i am in high school and am writing an essay about this era for US history.

They won’t all die overnight. Because of the large range of years that is considered “Baby Boom”, and because people vary in how long they live, their death will stretch over 2-3 decades.
The median age of the population will still be relatively high (there still will be a lot of old people), so I do not see any drastic changes.
Don’t worry, the 17 and under crowd are making sure that the earth stays populated.
very funny you say because I was thinking the same thing. I almost want to say that the world will be a quiet place but if you think a little deeper, yes the baby boomers make a strong impact on our population, even more so many of them have made more baby’s since then (you may be one of them) and that population will be even bigger!.. Further more, when our era has children… it’ll get even worse, many have already started! The fact that these kids are having kids so young these days doesn’t help at all. 3+ generations have entered our population since the birth of baby boomers. And it almost seems as though with each of these new generations, the population seems to nearly double as they have children. The population will continue to rise and I don’t think the cost of living is going to improve. word of advise look into the health care industry when you finish school. It’s gunna be a “booming” bussiness.
