No?
Let’s see. You Baby Boomers did not go to war when asked. Too many of you got wasted, hid out in college or ran off to Canada. At the same time other people did their patriotic duty and went to Vietnam and fought. Over 50,000 of them never made it home alive.
You want the Baby Bust, Generation X and Echo Boomers to support you? How about you Baby Boomers refuse to take Social Security and Medicare? How about making a real sacrifice for this nation? All you’ve ever done is take, take and take some more. Why not try giving back?
I am from Generation X. I don’t envy the Baby Boomers who were exposed to Agent Orange in the Vietnam War. I did my graduate research on Agent Orange for public health. I studied the initial pilot program at Fort Detrick, MD done by Dr. Frank Brown and am aware that the initial defoliation was approved by President Kennedy. From 1962 to 1971, over 12 million gallons were sprayed throughout South Vietnam – mostly in I Corps and III Corps. Many Baby Boomers were caught in that deadly spraying pattern. The scientists failed to do an environmental impact assessment on humans. The Vietnam War should not have happened. The Domino Theory was false. What were they thinking?

I studied the Vietnam War since my childhood of the 1980s. Back then, Vietnam was a taboo subject avoided in the public school systems. None of my teachers would talk about it. But it made me intensely curious. Over the years, I read many books and talked to Vietnam Veterans. I did graduate research on Agent Orange with GIS software and MGRS data from the 1960s.
The research was very interesting. When Vietnam Veterans told me first-hand accounts of the war, I was deeply fascinated. However, the war was a tragic human conflict for the Baby Boomers.
When I read about the Fall of Fire Support Base Ripcord, I listened to this song by Ted Nugent. See the video in the link below. In my opinion, the most beautiful women of the 1960s can be exemplified by the majestic female dancers in the background. The last battle between US ground troops and the NVA occurred at FSB Ripcord in 1970.

Colonel Hackworth was right in 1971 – Saigon would fall by 1975. His death was blamed on exposure to a defoliant in the Vietnam War.
